So I'm about to submit my essays and I had an urgent question.

Are the essays supposed to be single or double spaced?

So I'm about to submit my essays and I had an urgent question.

Are the essays supposed to be single or double spaced?

I don’t know, I think double spaced would be easier on the eyes, especially if you’re dealing with older adcoms, or tired adcoms (from reading so many essays).

I suggest waiting for more replies for more concrete info though.

I might just go with double, but I think it would’ve been specified somewhere explicitly if it really mattered.

I think it depends on how long the essay is… use spacing to your advantage; if single spacing makes the essay look way too short, double space it. If the essay is over 2 pages double spaced, use single spacing.
Just a note, Princeton specifically says not to double space the essay, and other colleges might also prefer single spaced without saying so.
But big man is right, it probably doesn’t matter unless it’s explicitly stated.

They actually care? Does it have to be times new roman 12 pt. too?

^ do it in windigans! i dare you

i use calibri 11 i doubt it matters

I usually use Times 12… but I did Calibri 12 for my 217 essay because it was quite a page in Times, and Calibri is slightly bigger hahaha.

I use calibiri 11 too. So much nicer looking. And 1.5 spaced.

Alright, I’m submitting using symbol

Am I the only person here who is in love with Garamond?

I’ve never heard of it, but I just went and checked, and Garamond is rather pretty.
I also realized that I didn’t use Calibri on 217, I used Cambria… thought it looked more booky. I used Calibri on one of my other essays though. Seems I just can’t commit haha.

garamond lover here! i use it for everything.

OMG!! I LOVE GARAMOND!

I was wondering if we could submit garamond, 12pt, 1.5 spaced?

Garamond ftw!
spacing will never ever make a difference on your admission process.
so stop procrastinating and go back to work =)

Would it almost be beneficial to change font?
Maybe wake the adcoms up a little bit after 20 essays of TMR?

As long as it’s not something hard to read or annoying. Like Chiller or Papyrus or something, ugh haha.

LOL!!! Imagine submitting an essay in Chiller…Oh man. That would be hilarious. UNIQUE! But, hilarious.

Ahahah AUTOREJECT

The exception, as always, being UChicago, I bet you could write a horror piece for one of their prompts in Chiller and they would be fine with it hahah.
“how I was caught… by a zombie.”

i wrote my brandeis essay in hebrew lol
