College Freshmen Business Major Next Steps?

I messed up in high school, so far got 3.7 GPA my first semester and I am interested in a Business Major, not sure what field yet.
My resume is worth crap, no work experience at all, didn't join any clubs in high school, and I only joined one business club so far in my first semester of college. So basically my resume is mostly white space.

What the hell do I need to do to be more productive than my peers so I can look good and be successful in the business field?
Or do I just go to school get good grades and wait till I can start applying for interns?

I heard that getting a job as a bank teller, learning a new language, getting certified in certain programs such as Microsoft, and going to a nearby community college to take a class in the business field are all good choices. I seriously need something to do this summer besides sitting on the couch.

Any help or advise that will help me in the business world would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, doing anything other than sitting on the couch would be a big help!

If may be tough to find an official internship between freshman and sophomore years, but if you can find one (paying or not) that would help. Or volunteer to help in the office for a non-profit agency. Take a summer school class or certification as you mentioned.

As you progress in school your classes will have projects that you can put on your resume. But any other “real-world” stuff you can put on will help. Even if you have a job in fast-food, retail, etc., where you interact with customers will provide experience you can list.
