I am looking for the following information regarding European colleges:

How do colleges grade students? Do they have midterm exams or only final exams at the semester end?

How important are college grades?

Do they use undergraduate GPA for graduate school admission? What are important factors related to graduate school admission?

Thanks

American universities aren’t a monolithic group. Why would you expect “European” universities to be?

I am just seeking info and expecting nothing.

I can speak only for the UK, but you’re looking at more than 30 different countries, all of which operate very different educational systems, so don’t try and extrapolate from the UK to anywhere else. Compared to the differences within Europe, American universities are completely monolithic.

Midterm exams don’t really exist, but it’s common to have essays and other assessed coursework part way through the semester at undergrad level. At postgrad level, it varies, especially if you’d doing a research-based masters / a PhD.

Very

Yes. At grad school level, beyond undergrad grades, you’ll also be expected to show a grasp of the language (if English isn’t your first language / you want to study in a country where English isn’t the main language), a strong research proposal (for a research degree), ability to pay, and the ability to fill out the application form properly, as well as any other requirements that are explicitly stated on the uni’s website.
