Is information session at the campus helpful?
Do they give useful tips/information on admission process or what they are looking for?
I'm planning to visit some Ivy League schools (probably 2-4), NYU, and CMU
If you've been to one of those schools' info sessions, how was it?
Also, does attending an information session show my interest to that school? If so, how would they know whether I visited or not? Do I have to put it on the app or something?

CMU tour/info session is payed I believe
I think it does show interest, you sign in at campus

I found all the info sessions I attended to be extremely helpful in deciding whether I would be a good fit at the school and in ranking my schools in order of preference. Some of them gave a couple tips on the admission process as well. Attending them does show interest in the school, but the schools vary in how much they care about your attendance. I had some schools ask me to write my name and contact info so they could send me follow-up pamphlets and surveys, while other schools I don’t believe ever even asked for my name.

No Ivy school will track your visit.

For the schools we visited last Summer, there were some information we received not available or hard to find on the web. Those info really help the decision and also writing the essays.

We found the tours helpful. If attending while school is in session you get a sense of what type of kids attend. My D new if she would “fit” or not. On some visits she was also able to sit in on a class or meet with program directors.
