I am a sophomore and just received letters from three different colleges(Caltech, Univer of Delaware, and University of Chicago) saying that they received information of me from the collegeboard student search and my PSAT percentile(94th). They want me to reply to them if I want their school posters and if I am interested in the schools? What is it supposed to mean?

It means that they are trying to get prospective students for the class of 2011. Reply yes, and get your brownie points :)

They're gathering information to try to persuade you to go to their school. U of DE is a really good school. I've had the pleasure of staying there a week for Governor's School. Nice facility, laidback instructors.

Basically, the posters mean they're going to send you stuff to remember their school when you start applying. I got a poster, a tee shirt, shorts, and a Blue Hens hat (U of DE's mascot), and a lanyard that I still use.

If any of them appeal to you even slightly, it would be good to reply. I received college mail as a freshman, but I did not respond because I was not interested in the colleges that sent me info. However, it might help a little if you reply because colleges always like to see good students who want to go to their schools.

I have a question. What should one do if they don't get college mail from the school of their choice? I know I have the PSAT scores, and friends with lower scores have already gotten mail from them. I just put myself on their list...

Did you write down a major that the college does not have?

Hmm, yea i said real estate. I dunno that WUSTL has that, though they have a good business school. I guess this is very important, cuz i got a letter from Stern saying that ur interest in business is intriguing.

OMG - my e-mail inbox is FILLED!

Anyways, I scored 213 (99th percentile) as a sophomore but didn't receive much spam in the way of mail, other than in the way of no-name colleges (exception being Caltech). And could you get anything more than just one of their guides? You said a tee-shirt and shorts? SUre - I'd like something free and useful.
