<p>So I realize that this isn't really college-related, but it is a college level course. I tried to get help at thousands of other sites before coming here, so please keep that in mind before you give me any well-deserved criticism. </p>
<p>So I used these materials in my Chemicaluminisecence lab and I can't figure out how to write equations for the reactions that take place. When I did the experiment, the reaction was first frothy and had a red glow, but than turned into a blue light. </p>
<p>Does anybody have any idea on how to write the reactions for these? </p>
<p>Sodium Hydroxide, NaOH, .8g
Luminol, C8H7N3O2, 0.005g
Potassium Carbonate, K2CO, 25.0 g
Pyrogallol (pyrogallic acid), 1.0 g
Formaldehyde, 37%, 10mL
Hydrogen Peroxide, 30%, 25mL</p>
<p>I’m not going to give you the answer, because you need to learn how to more effectively find answers to your questions, but the answer is available on the internet.</p>
<p>Do you have any idea where I can find it on the internet? It’s not like I didn’t attempt to look for it and solve it on my own. Throughout this course, there have been problems that I can solve without work, with work, and ones I have no strong grasp on. This is a problem that I don’t have enough experience to solve. I chose it blindly and it was just misfortune that I ended up with a experiment from a unit that we have yet to study.</p>
<p>I’m not trying to get the answer fed to me and I’m not asking you to write the 10 page report that goes with this experiment. I’m asking for the equations so that I can better understand the experiement and write the analysis on my own.</p>
<p>I would recommend searching for the reagents all together, like “chemiluminescence sodium hydroxide luminol potassium carbonate pyrogallol” and I found your exact experiment with explanations. There aren’t equations, but it should give you most of the pieces you need to determine what reacts with what.</p>
