College listing by most popular majors.

<p>I was wondering if people were aware of a site that has a database lister of "sort by most popular major" or "select major". Collegeboard has one but it seems inefficient in terms of selecting for quality of academics as well. </p>

<p>For instance, everyone knows caltech and MiT are the most popular choices for engineering students, and they are "engineering schools" in terms of the popularity of the major there, but for less popular majors it is difficult to find "types" of that school. For example, yale is where you'd want to go for the best history environment since it's high quality and there are a lot of history students there, but people rarely list the school by virtue of it's "history student appeal". </p>

<p>The schools I'd specifically be curious about are the "everyone's a math major" school and the "everyone's a philosophy major" school. Particularly the latter.</p>

<p>The best source I found for this is Rugg’s Recommendations, but it’s a book (not online) and it’s old. It’s not completely outdated - college profiles don’t change so fast that the schools known for history in the 1990’s are still known for history today. I like it because it lists schools that are good in math for each level of student, not just the top schools like MIT. Suppose you are a B student who wants a school that’s good in philosophy. There will be one on Rugg’s list.</p>

<p>Actually, I just checked online and they are keeping the book up-to-date. I just used an old version from the library.</p>
