College of Business Admin vs. Lincoln Center

Here is my dilemma:

On the one hand, I have an interest in business and would like to major in it, requiring me to apply to the College of Business Administration. On the other hand, I would much much rather apply to/live at the Lincoln Center Campus. I love Manhattan and would much rather be there than in the Bronx (no knock on the Bronx, it's good too, I just prefer Manhattan).

If I did Lincoln Center, I could minor in Business Administration and then I would probably major in either Communications (Concentration of either Film or Television) or the Mathematics/Economics program.

Ahhhhh, what to do?

Any advice? Anyone with experience in any of these programs have any input?

The two campuses are quite different, as you probably know. I think you should pick the environment you think would make you the most comfortable, and work it from there. You have an interest in business, but you indicate you would also be fine majoring in communications or math/economics. That tells me you’re not really dead set on business to the exclusion of all else. In my experience, students often change their interests and their majors more than once, especially if you are just starting out in college. You may get to the CBA and find you don’t really want to major in it after all.

Your first year or two, you are mostly working your core courses, which will give you a chance to explore all different subjects, so if location is more important to you, that is, if you feel you would not be happy if you were not at LC, then go there, minor in business, and see how you feel after the first year.

Does the CBA accept transfers into their program if you decide you would have rather been there after a year at LC?

CBA does accept transfers so that’s something to think about. What do you want to do after college? Certain business careers are more attainable by attending CBA. They is also a less intensive liberal arts core at CBA.

Side note: The econ department at LC is a joke. Ask anyone that’s an upperclassman econ major.

i know an econ major from LC that just graduated who is now an investment banker on wall street. so he must have gotten something out of the econ department to get a job right away in these times.

I wasn’t trying to put down LC, I was just informing the OP the reality of the Econ departmant. The person you knew probably was very self motivated to get there but when you compare the one person you know to other schools they place a lot of students in Bulge Brackets ( Goldman, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley) it kind of show the reality of he Econ department. Also invesmnt banks don’t recruit at Forham LC and barely any recruit at CBA so the person you knew defintely had to network himself into the position.

OP if you want to go into investment banking pm me, I can give you some advice.
