Question from accepted student CBA

Well let me be honest about Fordham before asking some questions: I simply had not done enough research at the time I applied. As soon as I found out that it is a selective university near NYC, I applied. I hope someone can help:

What campus is CBA on- Rose Hill or Lincoln Center?

If it is the Rose Hill campus, how safe is that campus being in the Bronx and all? I hate to make assumptions about the city not having been there, but the reality of the situation is, I just don't know how safe the campus is.

Secondly, if it is at Rose Hill, how close is that to NYC? Can students enrolled at CBA easily find work or internships in the city?

Finally, from the little research I have done after getting accepted, it seems that CBA is too finance-focused... true? And how large are the core classes?

Thanks!

Come on, your from Jersey City. it's not much different. Lol. Not knocking on your hometown.

CBA is okay, but im just a freshman, what do i know.

I feel grad school is very necessary for Business undergraduate degree in NYC

NYC is very close, a 15 minute ride on the Metro North.
The neighborhood is not great. if u decide to go anywhere in that part of the BX, its best u go w. a group. Ofcourse, u always have the option of going to NYC.
Internships are supposedly a plenty. Fordham's grads are among the highest paid in the nation. and yes.. u will need an MBA, but thats after u have acquired a few years of labor intensive job experience.

im not sure if it is finance focused.. but if it is... its because NYC is the nation's capital of Finance institutions.

First of all, congratulations and welcome to Fordham's family! Fordham's College of Business Administration is on the GORGEOUS Rose Hill campus in the Bronx. It is bordered by the Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Gardens on one side and Little Italy area of the Bronx on the other. I dont recommend any students go wandering around in dark areas late at night alone, whether its the Bronx, Nashville Tennessee outside the gates of Vanderbilt, Durham North Carolina outside the gates of Duke University or really any college in a city of any size. Fordham kids are very tight and they bond well and travel together, so that is not a problem. Kids go into the city together on the train and stay out late and its fine. Kids go into Little Italy almost every night, but always in groups. Its fine. Just be smart.

The Campus is VERY safe and well protected.

CBA is a highly respected school, particularly in the New York Metropolitan area. Fordham grads are PRIZED and more than 250 companies recruit on campus each year. The reason they are prized is because of their ethics, preparation, work ethic, and drive.

CBA students matriculate and live with Fordham College kids. You take the same core requirements. The core is rigorous and very broad and that is a GOOD THING! Theology is more like philosophy and it is not doctrine or dogma. Fordham is 40% non catholic. People of many cultures and faith are students at Fordham. Its a very diverse campus.

I believe that Finance is a particular strength of CBA, but I am sure you can major in whatever are of business you prefer. A lot of kids double major and pick something they have an interest in, which may be outside of the business norm, and area studies or languages are common double majors.

Come to Fordham prepared to work very hard. Its an academic school. Kids do have fun, but its not a country club or finishing school. And that is why employers like Fordham grads so much. They are prepared and come ready to go to work.

Welcome!
