What is the MBA x 2 scholarship? One of the benefits of being a James Scholar that is listed on the Business College website is that. Does that mean it pays out twice what the MBA cost?

I got James Scholar designation so I'm very interested.

James scholar, they should have emailed you if you got it. This is for the Business school only. All schools are different. The college of business Honors is also announced today as are scholarships.

I got this too!
So is the James Scholar program completely different from the Honors Program? And I have the same question as GoIllini. What is the scholarship that is they are referring to on the info page for the James Scholars?

And are you sure people who got scholarships were all notified today? On the UIUC blogs they said recipients of merit based scholarships should receive something in the mail. I haven't gotten any yet :(

James Scholar Program: each college has one, conceptually to capture about top 15% of class. No undergrad scholarship is attached to it. If you graduate as a James Scholar from the business college, you qualify for MBA x 2 scholarship which means if you are admitted (at any time after getting undergrad degree) to the UIUC MBA graduate program, you will get 50% off your tuition for the first year.

Business college Honors program: fewer are selected for this than James Scholar (generally neighborhood of top 40). MBA x 2 not applicable to it (although if you later get into UIUC MBA program you can qualify under usual criteria applicable to it). However, an undergrad scholarship is. Amount can vary depending on funding available but it is minimum of $4,000 ($8,000 if non-resident) off tuition per year.

yea what he said. They are two totally different programs, Busines Honors if only 40 and you can only get into it freshman year, so the people who got in, that will be the only people in. James Scholar it says 75 people and you can self nominate to get in Soph,Junior, Senior year.
