Hey guys this my first post!!! Anyways Northeastern is one of my top choices for business schools particularly for the coop. With that said my stats are 2230 SAT's, 3.8 GPA, and top 10%. Other schools i am applying to is Wharton, NYU, UMICH, and BC. Wharton will undoubtedly be a HUGE reach followed by NYU and UMICH being slight reaches (I believe). BC and NEU are matches and i believe I have the best chances at these two schools. I was wondering if anyone who is currently enrolled in the business school can provide me with any information regarding academic rigor, and coop placements. What are my chances for honors and financial aid? I am meeting with a professor at NEU in a couple of weeks who is a family friend to discuss the program. Any additional information would be great!!!! thanks guys.

Based purely on stats, I’d say you are def into honors program with 16K at least. As far as business coops, I have a couple friends working at state street, one at Merryl Lynch in NY, I know Goldman Sachs takes a few Northeastern coops and I’m sure there are tons of other smaller companies if that is what you are looking for. I know people who didn’t go to Northeastern (business students) who are struggling to find jobs while these sophomores are making more than they’ll make in 5 years. Now this probably won’t be a problem for you should you go to Wharton, NYU, UMich, and even BC.

Not too sure about the rigor of classes, maybe someone else can help out, but I know for sure with your stats (I’m assuming you are pretty well rounded) you should be able to land a top coop job should you keep it up at Northeastern.

Hey thanks RedSox2007, yeah i did football for 4 years and made all conference for defense my senior year. I also did track but wasn’t a standout just something to keep me active. I lack in EC’s besides sports. The only other activity was a field trip to the New York stock exchange. I think this is going to kill me! I know for sure that i will be doing finance and i know NEU is strong in that area. I can’t wait to visit!

Your stats are excellent, so I can’t imagine you wouldn’t get in… but you probably should find something more that you can put on your application for ECs. Even if you just volunteer for an hour or two a week, it’s something. Especially for schools like NYU and michigan, lack of ECs could really hurt you.

I can’t really comment on class rigor because I’m a science major, and I’m biased into thinking that we’re the only people who do real work. My roommate is business (supply-chain management) and has less work than I do, but also works very hard and puts a lot of effort into school. She seems pretty able to balance school work with other things–social life, jobs, etc. I’m guessing that with your stats, though, you’ll be able to do very well here.

And ditto to redsox… business majors get awesome co-op jobs, especially kids with good GPA and work experience.

Thanks Emily i appreciate your feedback. I could do community service but joining a club or group this late in the game i think would look unfavorable. football kind of killed me becuase it was year around lifting (before and after school) even during the offseason. Im skeptical about UMich (unchartered territory) but i am visiting the campus so who knows! I know that i want to be on the east coast though.
