BU or NEU for Business

Well I got into both. This is becoming one of the hardest decisions in my life. Boston University or Northeastern University for business. For NEU I got a scholarship of 6 k per semester, but still BU is rankly far higher in GENERAL though NEU is ranked higher for business. Any Advice?

I'm stuck with the same decision for Engineering. Similarly, NEU is ranked higher for engineering but lower in general. Though BU is more expensive than NEU, for some backwards reason they gave me a lot more financial aid.

I've talked to a lot of people, and thought about it a lot on my own. Though BU has a lot to offer, and the better financial aid is tempting, I've heard really really good things about the co-op at NEU. Everyone tells me that it's too good to pass up. BU does have internship/research opportunities but it's not the same.

So, I'll pass on the same advice that I've been getting, and plan to listen to: don't worry about the rankings, visit both, and give a lot of weight in your decision to the co-op because it can do a lot for you.

Thanks for the reply. The job opportunity for NEU that the co-op provides is indeed the key factor into this decision as well as the fact that NEU is definitely moving up. Again, thank you.

I want to mention one thing about the coop, it is what you make of it. The co-op advisors I have talked with make it very clear that the student must do the resume, get it out there, interview, etc. The school gives the students the "leads" but it is up to the student to do the work and close the deal.
So, if you like the idea of working in your field during your undergraduate studies AND you are the kind of person who will be proactive about seeking out a good coop placement it can be a great thing.

After visiting BU yesterday, I'm definitely going to be attending Northeastern.
I personally felt that BU students and faculty alike were pretty pretentious, but not able to give good reasons for why they thought were so much better than every other school.

Since Northeastern doesn't have a long history of being a prestigious university, they of course have pride in their school but not the same ego that I felt was prevalent at BU. I decided that I'd rather be a part of Northeastern's continuing to grow as a university, and climb in rank and 'prestige', than go to BU where they all have the attitude that they're the best without much to back it up.

But this was all just my impression, and you should definitely try to visit both, or find a way to get your own impression of both schools.

Visited both this weekend. Honestly BU did not impress me at all. Totally agree with the "fact" that students and faculty at BU seem more self centered + they aren't able to explain why they think they are better than everyone else.

NEU has a lot nicer campus and there is an actual campus feel to it. People seem confident as well but a lot more friendly (because they simply don't have the BU name on their chests).

..Goin' NEU. I will rather a member of growing, modern, and ambitious NEU than live in the past at BU.

Good to hear I wasn't the only one who got that vibe, BShadow88. I'm sure BU is a great school and everything, but go Northeastern!

For business I'd say NEU. It has a solid undergraduate program and the coop program can be especially valuable to a business major.
