My daughter was admitted to the College of General Studies with a January Admittance and summer semester in London. Does anyone know anything about this program? It sounds really interesting and she is very tempted to accept. Any info would be appreciated.

Do a search on “CGS” and “College of General Studies”…There have been a bunch of threads here about it. It is a good fit for some. It is a substantial amount of reading and and work. As I mentioned on here previously, I didn’t attend CGS, but two close friends of mine did. We all used to study together, which is how I know about the workload. They have the same BU diploma that I do; it was just a different route to get there. Congrats to your daughter.

Lots of great info on the program, timeline, curriculum, housing in Kensington area of London, etc. http://www.bu.edu/admissions/admitted/cgs-january-program-in-boston-and-london/cgs-jpbl-curriculum/

Anybody know if College of General Studies considers AP credits. Or if these come into play when he transfers to another school within BU after the two years. He is considering applying to BU College of General Studies because of it’s smaller class sizes and available college advising. He is also very interested in the semester abroad Sophomore year. He really wants to go to college in a large urban area in the Northeast. He has looked at other smaller college options in the Boston area but the schools don’t either have his major (Geography/Architectural Studies) or the academic options are limited, so if he changed his mind in what he wanted to major in, he would have to transfer. My feeling is that CGS is a good way to transition to school for him.

Here is the AP credit guide, CGS takes a number of credits but also you need to look at the college you wonat to go into if you are looking for credit for non-core courses.
