College of Social Ecology or Social Sciences

I'm entering as a freshman this Fall at UCI, and I'm currently a undeclared Humanities major, but I'm planning on switching to undeclared in the school of social ecology or the school of social science when I get to SPOP. I'm looking at their web pages, but am still having some trouble deciding which college I should switch into. I'm considering business administration, psychology, and sociology. I'm interested in taking some of the classes that would help me decide whether or not I'm really going to be interested in declaring a major on one of the three. I know switching to the school of business can't be done yet. It seems that both colleges have economics, psychology, and sociology departments. Can someone give me some more info for me to consider? Or I guess I can always ask when I get to SPOP? but I'm asking here just in case SPOP won't help. Also, do you think it would be better that I just switch to a Undeclared/Undecided major? Being a undeclared Humanities major right now wouldn't hold me back from taking classes required for another major would it?

For psych: take the psych 9 series.
Soci: soci 1 (intro to soc… yey)
Bus admin: probably mgmt 1. Maybe some other business savy student can tell you more.

Only the school of social sciences has all three of those departments. The school of social ecology has psychology.
The social science psychology is cognitive science. More about studying the mind and what not.
The social ecology psychology is social behavior, probably the more traditional view of psychology you’re use to.

Except for the business admin, it doesn’t matter. Just pick one. you can change it later.

no, but you might not get first priority for certain classes (it seems like psych 9 gives first call to psych majors).

hope this was helpful.

OK, I’ll definitely keep your info in mind when I get to SPOP. It was helpful. Thank you flemmyd :)
