College Party Games

Hey guys what kind of games are played at college parties. I do not drink for personal reasons so I cannot play drinking games. What are your guys’ favorite games at college parties?

Many thanks

While everyone else is getting schwasted I like to sit down for a hearty game of Settlers of Catan.

I’m kidding. People do not play board games at parties unless the Facebook event says “Board Game Party” and not “Blackout 2015.”

Always bring your chess board and pieces so you’re prepared for the unexpected pick-up game.

^I’ve seen some bughouse at MIT and elsewhere (but not usually at parties).

Also mafia (and variants). If it’s not a drinking game, it’s playing Mario Kart blindfolded.

I am not asking about just board games. Are there other games that are played besides board games and drinking games? What about billiards? If I do not drink can I still play or help a team in a drinking game. Sorry if this is a dumb question.
-Many Thanks

You’ve posted several threads with this same general theme.

Seriously…you are waaaaaaayyyyy overthinking this! You do not need to drink to have fun in college. There are TONS of games that you can play without drinking.

Have you ever played Ring Around the Rosie? That gets intense in college.

Someone will probably have a Wii.

Cards Against Humanity.

But honestly, you could’ve posted this in the other thread you made about partying, especially since you decided not to respond it.

I agree you are over-thinking it. Saying this in the nicest way possible, but… with how much you seem to be overthinking this, and how insecure you seem in some of your other threads, the prospect of going to as many typical college parties as you seem to be worried about isn’t very high. People want to party with someone chill, who goes with the flow, and doesn’t go on internet forums to ask what grinding is or what games are popular. It might be easier to get on the social scene through clubs or activities you’re interested in.

Just putting that out there.

Thanks elliebham. I might join clubs instead.

Thanks everyone for your help. Even though I am not allowed to close discussions. I just want everyone to know that all my questions were answered and that I do not need anymore help.

Just adding one thing yes even if you don’t drink you can still play drinking games. Usually this would happen at smaller chiller parties but can happen at larger where you just have your friend drink for you. Where you take a shoot in beer pong but if they make it your friend drinks for you. This works for like any game where you you do some action but have someone do your drinking. Tbh not really that common most of the time personally if I got out with a girl and she doesn’t wanna drink too much well okay like that but I think if you wanted to do that it be fine.

I love drinking games even when I’m not drinking. It’s really fun to be the dealer in a game of screw the dealer with a cup full of water instead of alcohol. (I did this when I was playing in a 3v3 soccer philanthropy the next day at 10 am). Also I feel like the bigger the party, the less games get played. So it might not be an issue.

if you are into video games there are LAN Parties where everyone gathers together and plays video games with each other.

I find it funny that everyone else is all like, “I though board games were for old people.” Almost all of my friends don’t drink, and so we don’t really have parties per say, but we do play board games. And I actually like Settlers of Catan. We also play campus-wide Capture the Flag, extreme Four-Square, and stuff like that. Some might think we’re lame, but I think it’s better than puking in a toilet and battling a raging headache.

Getting drunk with a small group of friends and playing Monopoly (or many other board games) can make for a great night. There’s a HUGE board game club at my school. It’s one of the more active clubs on campus too.

@runner019 I don’t think anyone is knocking board games per se. I played board/card games a bunch in college, just never whipped out my Simpsons Clue board or played a quick round of Cranium in the middle of one of my frat’s big parties where there’s 100+ people in a single room as the OP sort of imagined people did.

@iwannabe_Brown I’m not super offended or anything, so I apologize if I came off that way. Your description definitely helps me understand what people were imagining, lol!
