Question: I have an overall weighted GPA of 3.51. My SAT scores are: Critical Reading 550; Math 480; Writing 500. What are my chances of getting into college?

Answer: There are so many colleges and universities that will accept a student with your credentials that your head may spin from the all the options. We [...]

check out Colleges That Change Lives...it highlights a bunch of liberal arts type colleges that aren't super-selective but are still very good schools...one of my friends pulled her entire college list off of CTCL...shes going to Goucher.

approx 70% of my HS has GPA's with 3.2 or lower and avg ACT was 19 - my friend had an ACT of 17 (retook and raised to 19-21 I think, though) and got accepted to all the schools she applied to minus one (although she's transferring to that school who originally rejected her this coming year). They were all state schools, mind you - not ivy league or anything, but those stats are good enough for most colleges in the US I would say.

Wow...you'd never realize just how many schools accept students with a B-Average-perhaps we're just all a little too focused on the ultra-elite colleges/universities-HYP and the ilk.

OH MAH GAWD! Do people not read? Can't you see that this is just one question from the "Ask the Dean" section on CC??? The OP is Sally R. who is a college counselor for CC, not a student!

Chances are excellent with some research into
1) the stats of the schools attempted
2) the possibility of SAT Optional schools (since student has 3.5) and the school may not be looking for the gifted
'critical thinking'/fill in the bubble standarized test kind of high performer.

This student can have a chance at Westminster college in Missouri,
Methodist college in North Carolina
Earlham College (In) which is one of the colleges that change life.
Luther College in Iowa

Mount Holyoke since SAT is not required
Wartburg college

The student will get a good education at Earlham and Westminster. People there are happy too. There are plenty of schools that will accept you with this SAT.
