Would it be alright if i can get a recommendation from my sophomore AP World History teacher? She knows me a lot and i think she will accurately write about my personality.

I think anyone from freshman and sophomore years are no-gos, no matter how well they know you. Colleges usually look for teachers from 11th or 12th grades.

do it, it can’t hurt.

any other suggestions? W&M CC please help :D

Sorry, we thought the chatter on this thread was going strong. Trying not to interject on every thread.

Anyway, we suggest getting recommendations from teachers with whom you’ve had recent contact. If you’ve worked with your sophomore teacher in junior and senior year in some capacity, go for it. If however you haven’t interacted with that teacher in two years it might be best to think about references from teachers who’ve worked with you more recently.

well i practically go to to talk to her 3 times every week and she is also the sponsor for a honors society i am in. I feel like she would be able to write how i truly am personally better than the earlier teachers i have known. But i will be having one of my junior teachers write one as well.

So is it still discouraged? In your opinion?

Thanks :)

Sounds like you’ve had substantial interaction with her since 10th grade so yes, go ahead and have her write a letter. A second one from a more recent teacher is also fine but those should be it (in addition to the one from your GC). We encourage students to contain themselves to a total of 3 letters.
