College Search for IL Resident

@compmom what are a few examples of colleges that give aid up to 150k a year. Thanks!

Hi! I am currently a junior from Illinois. I am looking for guidance from people who are experienced in the college selection/ application as my parents know little about the process(I will be the first to go to college in my family.) My sat score is currently a 1430. Does anyone know any colleges (in or out of state) that have a COA under 15,000?

The aid is for incomes up to $150k. Generally selective schools with large endowments

Iowa State and Indiana are usually pretty affordable for Illinois students. Indiana has billboards advertising <$10k tuition. You’d have to look into what room and board would be, but I think you could get it all in and done for <$20k/year.

I’m pretty sure you’d get reciprocity at the Wisconsin directional: Wisconsin Whitewater is especially good for teaching.

“Indiana has billboards advertising <$10k tuition.”

Do you mean Indiana State? Indiana University definitely does not make itself this affordable for Illinoisans.

Replying to my own post because I found this to be incorrect. There is no reciprocity to IL. Still a pretty low base price, and some colleges in the WI university system offer merit.

I’ll have to look at it again next time I drive by the billboard. I remember thinking it was an excellent price, though.

I have seen that billboard too @Groundwork2022 and think it’s for Indiana State, where tuition is $8,768 for Illinois students with 3.0+ GPA

The universities I listed would offer you some financial aid for that income, but you would need to run the NPCs because all colleges have different formulas. You’ll quickly see that you may run the NPC on 10 different colleges and get 10 different numbers…
If you’re a girl, look into all the top women’s colleges (Smith, Mount Holyoke, Wellesley, Brywn Mawr, Scripps, Agnes Scott). If you’re a boy, run the NPCs LACs with gender imbalance, such as Skidmore or Connecticut College.
