Can someone please help me? I am having so much trouble finding college to apply to. my GPA is a 3.4 with a sat score of 1150, although, I go to a very very good and difficult high school with very good extracurriculars. are there any college anyone can recommend that aren’t to expensive, nice campus, and good and happy school. that would be amazing. thank you so much!
Are you looking for a particular size or location for your schools? How about your intended major? More info would definitely help us provide more helpful ideas.
You should be able to get into good schools with these stats, but not the tippy top ones. There are something like 4,000 universities and colleges in the US, and you are probably fine for something like 3,500 of them. As such, we are going to need more information.
What state are you from? What can you afford? What would you like to study? Would you prefer a large school or a small school?
If you were from Massachusetts I might suggest UMass Lowell, UMass Boston, or maybe UMass Dartmouth or one of the state colleges or the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Basically, this would be the in-state schools but not the very top hardest-to-get-into one. If you were from California then I might suggest the CSUs. Other states should have comparable schools.
There are also huge numbers of LACs in the US. The top 50 might be a reach, but there are hundreds more. What they would cost is hard for me to predict.
Your guidance counselor at school should also be able to suggest some appropriate schools. Your guidance counselor might need to ask some of the same questions I asked above, unless you have already provided the answers.
In Texas, you’d be a good fit for UTSA, UTEP, Texas State, North Texas, UT-Dallas. A low reach would be Houston and Texas Tech.
If you like the desert, you could try Arizona State, UNLV, Nevada-Reno, UNM, and New Mexico State.
If you don’t mind a lack of scenery, there’s Oklahoma State.
For the deep south, there’s Memphis, Ole Miss, Alabama State and Louisiana Tech
For Ohio, there’s Ohio University and Cincinnati.
If you love cold weather, there’s Univ of Wyoming
I can afford about $30,000-35,000 and I am an undecided major (thinking about business possibly as a major or education). As for size-- any size.

Might I suggest Appalachian State?
Decent sized school with rising reputation in North Carolina, in a village resort like college town up in the mountains. If you like getting a good education with some partying and skiing / snowboarding it is for you. Pretty cheap as well.
What state are you from? The SUNY schools are ~$30k/year for OOS students, but ~$20k for state residents. Have you applied to any schools in your home state? If not, you should look there for a couple of safeties.
Appalachian State is a great selection for the type of school that would seem to suit you. In terms of cost and your stats, there are unique and wonderful schools like it across the country which can be especially terrific bargains if you are in-state.
In California, Cal State Chico fills a similar niche. My brother went to App State so I can attest to their solid business program and excellent alumni network (especially if you want to live and work in Atlanta or Charlotte). Similarly, Chico well known and highly regarded in California.
Truman State.
If you’re looking at education, Texas State University is nationally ranked. Plus its on the San Marcos river, which is the best spring/summer/early fall hangout. Lots of hot girls in swimsuits, if you’re a guy, lots of hot guys in swimsuits, if you’re a girl
