College suggestions for me?

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I’m a rising senior in high school in New York. I have been having trouble narrowing my college choices down to a list so I’d appreciate any and all suggestions.

I’m really interested in science. I am particularly interested in biology, biochemistry, and medicine. I’m in the science research program at my school and I have done a couple projects and am currently doing a study. I don’t have a complete path in mind but for now I am interested in become a doctor or surgeon so I would attend medical school after college. Also, I don’t have any experience in the field but I think bioengineering is fascinating and I would consider a job in that field with the proper education.

My parents and I have about 84k set aside for my college education. A lot of the colleges I had been looking at seem to be far out of my price range. When I first started thinking about colleges I just thought that I would just repay debt after getting an education and job but this seems a little unrealistic now. I just want my education to be worth what I’m paying for it. I am definitely not against having some debt but I want the quality of my education to be worth my debt. Also, if there are any schools that might offer me money, that would be awesome.

I would like to stay somewhere in the Northeast if possible but this is just a preference. Somewhere within driving distance of New York would be nice. While I’d consider going to schools a bit out of the northeast region, I don’t really see myself in the South or West Coast. Also, I prefer suburban and urban environments to rural environments. Again these are just little preferences that don’t mean too much to me.

I am male, half asian, and half white. Right now I’m listed as asian in my school but I think this might hurt me so I can probably get it changed.

Here are my stats:

My school doesn’t do unweighted GPA but to give a baseline, 4.5 is the highest you can get without honors and 4.5 and above is top 10%.
Freshman GPA: 4.7
Sophomore GPA: 4.89
Junior GPA: 5.17
Current GPA: 4.8

SAT Scores:

  1. 2180 (Reading- 670, Math- 780, Writing- 730)
  2. 2300- Best (Reading- 780, Math- 730, Writing- 790)
    2400 Superscore: 2350
    1600 Superscore: 1560
    PSAT Score: 197
Still have to take Subject Tests, I took Biology M in 9th grade and got 700 but I’m not planning on using that
    AP: US History- 4

Extracurricular:
French Horn- Got over 90 in Levels V and VI for NYSSMA and was invited to perform in Hofstra University Honors Band for one performance
Tennis- Junior Varsity for 3 years
Honors Societies: National, Math, Social Studies, Foreign Language, Science (I am in charge of publicity)
Chess Club
I also created a small organization at my school which helps students display leadership by leading projects to help non-profit organizations in my community. We’ve completed one project so far but have two more lined up. I have around 60 volunteer hours right now through the organization and a couple other events I helped out in but I plan to have 100+ after the other two projects are completed.
I am currently doing research at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research in one of the most prestigious labs in the area.

Awards:
Just some science research stuff
Team received 1st place in Medical Marvels 2014
Merit at Long Island Science Congress
3rd place in Animal Sciences at Andromeda
I plan on entering Siemens and Intel and I have a good feeling about my project I’m doing right now

Some Schools I Have Been Considering:
Boston College
Brown University
U Chicago (Great School but a little far)
Columbia University (Love the school but expensive)
Cornell University
Johns Hopkins
U Michigan
Stony Brook Honors College (Very close and very affordable)
Wash U
Yale University

Any suggestions for me? Schools you think I should add/remove? Thanks for any suggestions!

Have you run any Net Price Calculators? What is your typical Expected Family Contribution (EFC) for the schools on your list?
