College transfer application

Hello guys, I am applying to Cornell University and Amherst College for the 2015 fall as a transfer student. They said that the SAT or ACT tests are not required but can be helpful if you submit it. I did not write any of these tests since I am an international student and the school that I am currently enrolled in did not require me to write them. Did anyone here get accepted into Cornell or Amherst without the SAT/ACT or does anyone here know of anyone who got accepted as a transfer student to these schools with the SAT/ACT. Also I want to know if it will be a good idea to write them or not. I am currently in a community college with a 4.0 GPA. Thank you

I have spoken with a handful of people who have transferred into Amherst. There are so few people who make the cut that it is difficult to draw trends so take this with a grain of salt. Two of non-trads I spoke with (a veteran and a man in his late 20s) didn’t report their scores and the others all did. I haven’t encountered any traditional students who got in without SAT scores, but there are probably a few out there. As for intl students, I have no clue.

Amherst is very particular when it comes to transfer admissions; they’re mostly looking for a) highly talented students from comparable schools with specific reasons to transfer and b) highly unique CC students with perfect GPAs. At least this is what my observations on this forum lead me to believe.

Best of luck.
