Do any students have any experience with the College Transit bus line for breaks-specifically from JMU to Huntington LI?

There's a bus that runs to the Vienna, VA Metro station on Friday afternoons. From Vienna, take Metro Orange and Red lines to Union Station, AMTRAK to NY/Penn, then however you'd get to Huntington. Or take Washington Flyer to Dulles and fly, or Orange and Blue lines to Reagan National. There's a way to get to BWI from Metro, but I don't know it.

That bus is called homeride. I did not realize that one could take Amtrak from there, so thanks herewego2. I had heard that if one flies, one does need to be careful on the way back, because one could miss the homeride bus back to campus (if their flight gets delayed).

You're welcome. Technically, you have a metro ride between Vienna and Union Station or National Airport. And you're right that a delayed return could really mess up getting back to campus! I haven't investigated other organized options than homeride because Vienna is 30 minutes from us (+ traffic). Our neighbor's eldest will be a junior next year and has a car, so that gives our S a "plan B" if he goes to JMU as I think he will.

Yes, homeride works out well for you. It might not work out for those flying. If one misses homeride, I think that one can really be stuck.

Apparently one can get rides fairly easily, and collegetransit works extremely well if it does not conflict with a class.
