College Visit, On Campus Interview, Overnight Stay

I know that summer is winding down, so this might be a little belated, but I had some questions about the college visit.

There seems to be two separate types of college visits: the "visit-with-the-family-in-summer" visit which (I think) includes the on campus interview, and the "attend-classes-and-stay-overnight-in-a-dorm" visit that occurs October-December.

Questions: Does the second kind of visit above (overnight) include an on campus interview? What can actually get done in the on campus interview because the admissions officer doesn't have any information on you? And most importantly, which should I go to (or should I go to both to show more interest?)? Thanks.

Do not assume a visit includes an interview - make sure one is scheduled. If they don't have your information, take a copy of your resume.

I don't think either shows more demonstrated interest than the other, but you will probably get a better feel for the students at an overnight.
