CollegeBoard: Cornell

CB updated their profile of Cornell.

Previously it said 27% admitted, now it says 25% ... Is this any sort of clue as to what the RD rate will be ?

I think they also changed the SAT ranges (although Writing is still omitted).

I can't recall if they've changed anything else.

umm no... thats last years stastics (24.7% i beleive)

We already know though that this year its supposed to be 22 percent

where did we get the 22% statistic?

Cornell Sun ?

I'm positive that it had said 27% previously because I'm weird and had checked the Cornell page like 80 times.

As for 22%, does that mean overall or for RD ?
If overall, what is RD expected to be ?

it was 27 two years ago and 24.something last year and this year it will be even lower. These numbers are for RD and ED combined, so real RD rates are a bit lower

22% is based off of statistics released by the Cornell Daily Sun... the number of applicants jumped 7.5% to over 30,000... However, the number of applicants accepted does not usually change. From this we can conclude with some simple math this it will be approximatly 22% OVERALL (ED + RD) for this year.

BUMP

Hope this helps

Collegeboard uses previous years...it doesn't have this year yet voice. That's cool that they updated tho.

This years will look something like 22.85% if it is assumed that out of the 30191 apps recieved (<a href="http://cornellsun.com/node/20872)%5B/url%5D">http://cornellsun.com/node/20872)</a>, they take the same # as last year.

Last admissions cycle, they took 6935 people of a pool of 28098--a 24.68% rate.
See <a href="http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000002.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000002.pdf</a> for that year and previous ones.
US News appears to be a year behind as they state the rate to be 27% in my 2007 edition (the rate was 27.07% in 2005). I don't think the small drops will really affect rankings this year or the next. Just 4.15% drop over 2 years.

I wonder if they will try to take even fewer this year to lower the rate. They would need to chop off about 900 less than they took last year to get it below 20% tho. Then there is the matter of yield...

They might take even less students this year because there was an over enrollment problem last year.
