CollegeBoard practice test curves

Does anyone else find it painfully frustrating that the score conversions in the blue CB book have like a range of sometimes 60 points?? Does anyone happen to know if a real curve would be on the higher or lower side?

Yeah, it's kind of annoying, especially because the range will sometimes be 100 points. I'd say on average it will be somewhere in the middle. If it's a particularly hard test, maybe a little on the higher end; if it's a particularly easy test, maybe a little on the lower end -- that's pretty hard to decide yourself, though.

It is frustrating, but remember, they haven't actually evaluated the tests in the CB book with a large pool of students, so there's no way for them to be as statistically accurate as you'd like them to be.

I actually think the tests in the CB book are a little inconsistent. The book as a whole is a better representation of the actual test than any individual test in the book is. If this is correct, +- a few points doesn't really matter anyway.

Does anyone know how CB practice tests compare against PR ones? I've only taken the PR ones so I hope I'm not at a disadvantage. Which gives you a better prediction of your SAT scores?

I posted a curve for the exams in the book a short while ago that's proven to be pretty accurate in predicting actual scores. If anyone wants a copy of the curve, just e-mail me.
