Every book I have used before gave one score from 200-800 for a raw score of x. In the blue CB book though, it gives a very vague range. For example, getting 63/67 in the CR section can range from a score of 700-800. That's not particularly helpful in trying to gauge your score. It's a hundred points! It's the same with all the other sections. It's no problem if you get perfect in each section, but if you make a few mistakes, then it becomes really difficult to pinpoint your likely score. Depending on whether you give yourself the best or worst possible score, it can be a 200-300 point difference.

it's because they don't have an official scale out yet, the test has yet to be administered. the 10 Reals were real tests with scaled scores, college board doesnt want to make any predictions before they see the kind of scores students are getting

They gave the ranges because since those questions have never been on an experimental section, they can't guage the scores properly. It is really annoying I agree. After the first new SAT, we will have a small idea more or less where it will be close to. In general, I'd say its not the higher of the 2 score ranges, and its not the lower either. I'd say its somewhere near the middle, and may vary 10-20 points depending on the test.
