I've been getting some mails from colleges saying something like
"Based on your SAT scores, we think you are a good candidate... blah blah blah"
I don't remember allowing collegeboard releasing my test scores.
Does the collegeboard send your test scores without your consent?
and since I got this letter, does it mean that they sent my test scores out?

They send these emails to everyone. I get them and I haven’t even taken the SAT yet.

Don’t worry.

They’re initially sent on PSAT information, and then on your SAT information. It’s usually not just scores but I think also other information, such as the ethnic/socioeconomic information, as well as high school grades and interests you might’ve told them during registration (I think they ask). They don’t release your exact scores but give colleges a bunch of names that fulfill certain parameters (like a SAT range) and colleges then mass-email you.

Basically, get a little excited if you want that colleges are interested in you - there’s nothing to worry about.
