or is this entirely my fault? I missed one school's deadline...It's deadline was 1/1/2010 but Collegeboard said 1/15/2010 (I look up all my schools deadlines on collegeboad and write them down and cross off as I submit apps)..I finished all my essays and this school's supplement was so difficult too!!!!!!! then just found out today from the schools website that the deadline was 1/1/2010.. Can I explain this situation and still submit my application? I didn't bother to check the deadline again. I thought Collegeboard Doesn't LIE!!!!

Well I wouldn’t say CB lies but they have been known to not have current information. I would always check the specific dates on the actual college website.

So are you saying you haven’t sent your app yet - or just sent it this weekend?

I would contact the school and see what they say.

I would try to tone down the exclamation points when you talk to them though. ;)

Thank you I just emailed them.

Did you get a response?

Yes! They said they would consider my app! Oh and I didn’t use exclamation mark!! Thank you!

Yay!!! :)

They loved your calm demeanor, I’m sure.

Glad it worked out for you! CB has failed me on financial aid deadlines, too.

The only authoritative source for college information is the college’s own publications and website. The College Board site links to the individual college websites in all cases I recall.

Congratulations on still getting a chance to be admitted.

Or maybe they just want your application money and decrease their admissions rate to look more selective.

The cup is half empty.

^ There isn’t application fee for this college. :)

I always use cb as a reference,i don’t expect to find the important info on it.

Yeah. I mean, CollegeBoard doesn’t update its information very quickly but it does link to every single college it has information on. People really really need to start looking at college websits more often.

I’m glad it worked for you though.

I love the collegeboard website but I had no idea that their information could be incorrect. It’s just one of those sites you expect to be correct at all times, I guess. Good post… I’ll watch out from now on.

Colleges are at liberty to change their information from year to year. Something that might have been right in 2006 might be wrong now. Some colleges extend their deadlines due to some external issue and some colleges contract them when they get an unexpected deluge of applicants that they can’t effectively process. Some college information is collected from statisticians at U.S. News and Princeton Review that obviously changes each time they do a study. No one can really keep up with all of the crazy college stuff for the, what, 4000 accredited colleges in America.

hahaha this story is hilarious! I’d be sooooo ****ed if that happened to me.
