is anyone accepted/applying to cornell thats willing to PM me their essay, to help me get an idea more about college essay-ing?

modeling your essay off someone elses is a bad idea. Write on something you feel passionately about to let your emotions flow onto the paper. If you try and copy or get ideas from an essay that you "know was successful," you'll have a more difficult time writing something original.

Look introspectively and find something that means a lot to you.

i had/have no intention of modeling it off anyone elses, im just in general curious.......thanks neways... does anyone know of a good website or something to find some good essays. I know it seems that I intend to model mine based on someone elses, but I really just want to see a good college essay out of curiosity

I didn't mean to accuse you of that, sorry. I hope you see my point to some extent. There is a site that pays successful ivy applicants for their essays...I'm trying to remember the name.

go to the cc main page there is a good article about writing good college essays. also search cc for a length post about writing a great essay. or try searching in the essay section of cc itself (i think it exists). however, sparticus is totally right- if a could relate a college essay to a photograph I would say that a good essay is the part of the photograph that looks nice and a great essay is the part of the photograph that evokes an emotion. to make spart's point and my own more lucid: your essay (this is very cliche) should be exactly YOU, list all your hobbies and things about yourself, then decide which is your favorite and write about it making it as PERSONAL as possible, you dont exactly need to be original, just be creative and make sure to evoke some emotions from the admissions officer.

There are TONs of sample essays all over the internet...do a search.
