Colleges and interviews? Ehh?

Well I heard that interviews help you get into colleges that might be a reach for you. Is that true that it realy does make a big difference in the admissions process?
Also what are some of the common questions they talk about?
Btw is it big a job interview.... whole suit tie thing? Or just reg clothes?

Thanks!

Interviews generally don't make much of a difference, they are one of the smallest factors at most schools and seem to be used more to confirm ECs, show passion, etc. Plus to gauge your fit for the school...

actually at some schools like Rice it's considered an "important" factor in admissions since it shows your interest in that school

in general, its almost like not having it.
Its more of a waste of time, because they dont learn more from your interview than what you put in your application. You can do it, but it really doesnt do much

a lot of schools now only do informational interviews and give those only little weight.

nikon: different schools have different policies. What you should do is post this question on the respective school's sub forums. Good luck

How long does it take to schedule an interview?
