First sitting, I got a 600/590/580
Second sitting, I got a 540/590/640

Do they look at both? Do they look at my best sitting? Or do they take the best score from each section (so it would become 600/590/640)?

Read the college websites to be sure. Usually most highly selective privately operated colleges consider your scores section-by-section on the SAT.

every college has their own policy of evaluating multiple SAT scores. Most will accept the best score from each section. A few (and I believe that the Univ. of Cal. system does this) specifies that they look at the best score from ONE sitting. I believe that to become a Nat, Merit Finalist, they look at the best SAT score from one sitting, also. Colleges are very upfront about what their policy is, so call the admissions office and ask.

Hopelessness, the majority of schools take the best of the tests. Check the websites to be sure, but most take a combined score. Best of luck to you, you had pretty good scores!

Almost every school we have looked into and we have looked into ALOT "superscore" or take the best of each subject no matter what sitting, this makes the candidate look his best.
