Looks like most of the colleges have ED 1 deadline on Nov 1 and I’m too late to prepare for that. I’m going to study Computer Science Major and ofcourse will need financial aid. My current priority is Lafayette.
Stats:
SAT: 1400
TOEFL: 102
ACT: Oct 22
Plus 2 Science: 61%
Any colleges for me? Do you think that grades might greatly affect my chances?
Lafayette (and almost all others) will only accept students if they believe you’ll be able to handle their academic rigor. While your SAT and TOEFL are okay, they aren’t often the best indicator of how you would perform academically. Given that your +2 scores are on the low end, you are at a disadvantage already. If you were to have a chance at Lafayette, you have to show them why you deserve the place. What makes you special? What do you bring to Lafayette that is compelling enough evidence, that you will be a worthwhile investment? You have to convince the admission counselors that you deserve the spot.
Also, if you do think Lafayette is your first choice, you can still apply ED. This is what their website says:
I did the exact same thing. I was very late, and only decided to apply around October, so took my SAT in December. I talked to admission officers at Lafayette, and they allowed me to convert my application to ED even though I was weeks past deadline.
Also, your intended major isn’t very important here.
