Colleges giving some slack with the SAT's Writing Portion?

Hey I wondering if you guys think that college will give me some slack with my poor performance on the SAT Writing because English is my third language. I got a 550 on it but a 12 on the actual essay and my CR/M portion is a 1490. The few schools that I am applying to that look into the writing portion is UF and FSU; do you guys think that they would possibly overlook the low performance considering my relatively high CR/M and essay score?

I know some ivy league colleges and some other the colleges (william and mary) don't place alot of weight on the writing section (william and mary disregards it altogether). My writing score is the lowest of my three as well.

Many colleges consider that those who do not have English as a native language may score lower than others on the writing section. However, in your case it is irrelevant for admission because your SAT score is in the upper 15% of those admitted to UF or FSU, i.e., if you are not accepted to either of those it won't have anything to do with your SAT score.

Don't remember if there's a part on the application that asks what you're first/second language is but you can always put it in the additional info part of the common app.

I read somewhere that many colleges don't give the middle range scores for writing either because of the whole switch from 1600 to 2400 so they dont have enough data to consistently tell what the average really is.
