Checking out colleges and would like to be near family I’m New Hampshire, Road Island, Massachusetts or Connecticut, even VT or eastern NY would work.
Brief stats so far:
gpa around 3.8uw/4.2w
white San Francisco female
act predict: 34 SAT: 2100-2200
4 years at well-known arts school for theatre (do NOT want to go to college for theatre)
many years of instrumental music
please reccomend some schools in these states, safeties, matches, and reaches are all good. The more the better!
What is your major? What can you afford?
@gearmom cost isn’t much of a problem, not sure about major. perhaps psychology, prelaw, or humanities
Are you male or female? Do you want a large or small college? City?
You already know the Ivy League schools. Add Tufts, Brandeis, Clark, Welleseley, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Connecticut College, Amherst, Williams, Trinity, Wesleyan University, Boston College, Boston University. Just to start.
Vermont would probably be a good safety for you given your background.
Do you have any actual test results? No college has ever based a decision on “predicted” scores.
Most of the New England state flagships and you might even get some merit scholarships at some of them.
Use the Supermatch engine on the left of this page.
Is your family in New Hampshire? If so, include Maine.
Good humanities/psych/liberal arts colleges to consider with your stats:
Massachusetts:
Mount Holyoke (match?)
Smith College (match?)
Hampshire College (safety)
Amherst College (reach)
(all 4 above are part of the 5-college consortium in the Amherst area which is beautiful and has a vibrant college/arts scene)
Wellesley College (reach)
Brandeis (match?)
Maine:
Bates College (match?)
Bowdoin College (reach)
CT:
Wesleyan U. (reach)
Connecticut College (match?)
NY:
Bard College (match)
Skidmore College (match)
There are tons of good schools in New England. Are you looking for LACs or Unis? Large or small? Urban, suburban or rural? What kind of political climate?
We don’tknow if OP is male or female.
@gearmom female from sf, small or medium, LAC preferably. City or rural is fine
@lalalemma ^ what was said above. Political climate anything as long as its not crazy conservative.
Staceyneil’s list covers your criteria pretty well. I would also add Colby (match), Vassar (reach), Bennington (safety), and Clark (safety).
You could add from RI, Providence College (safety) and Salva Regina in Newport. (safety), assumes that you get your predicted scores.
