Colleges have been selected. Although i need to know if they are realistic. Also suggestions are good too. Prefrence : Midwest then New England Area, then West Coast and last but not least East Coast.

GPA:- W3.7

Types of classes: Mostly AP , a couple enriched and 1 regular.

For most of these schools, you're going to need over a 28 on the ACT.

Where are you in-state? Too many state schools, imho.

Little chance @ Northwestern or UCLA without a specific hook/in-state/justification (like your HS is really tough or has a track record with UCLA).

Michigan, Wisconsin, maybe ED @ NYU or a selective new england LAC might fit you well.

I think you need to concentrate on adding schools that are a good match for your current statistics. A five point bump in ACT scores is pretty unusual; 2 points would be a more reasonable goal.

I agree with Midwesterner (maybe because I'm from the Midwest, too).

In my experience, ACTs don't move more than a couple of points, even with prep. In more than one case, students scored highest the first time they took the test. Or the sub-scores changed (some up, some down), and they ended up with the same composite.

You can definitely improve 5 points with some preparation.

Where are you from? Do you have URM status?

With your stats and no URM, you have very little chance at Northwestern, Michigan, UCLA, NYU. A small chance at Illinois (but not for engineering), slightly better at Minnesota, and decent at Iowa.

You really need to bring up your scores or include a couple of safety schools on your list. Finish out this semester as strong as possible to bump up your GPA. Good luck to you.

Being Asian will hurt more than help you...you probably know there are tons of insanely smart Asians that live and breathe school.

With your stats, you might be able to get into your state's flagship school if you apply early enough. If you can get a 30 though you have a much, much better chance.

Work hard over the summer. I made it into the easiest Ivy to get into (Cornell) and Northwestern, but I still can't help thinking that if I had worked harder on the SAT I could have made it to Stanford, Princeton, MIT, etc.

BTW, I will be attending Michigan, and if you have any questions about the process there, be sure to PM me. I'm definitely an expert on them by now.

Study Study Study for those ACTS! Take some practice tests(your school has them in the guidance office) find out your weak points, and practice more. I raised my score form a 28 to a 32 in one year and a whole lot of prepping.
