Terrapin Refrigerator magnet from UMDCP

Different stuff from different schools, tshirt that said class of 2013, then stickers, magnets, pencils etc from various other schools. The other thing I got from a safety was a letter from the Mayor of the town where the school is as well as a coupon book from the Chamber of Commerce. That was pretty cool.

A magnet from Penn State, haha.

I got decals from Brandeis, American, and a small sticker from Georgia Tech

Kenyon's was great:

Envelope with big old picture of a purple "thumbs up" on the outside

A very nice letter with a personal paragraph referencing something special about the applicant (enough to bring a tear to a crazy mommy's eye)

A nice decal (which my son really liked)

kayf--the ice scraper is the funniest thing I have ever heard!

I guess if a student has said yes already, then the college can remind them about the lousy weather there.

Illinois gave my S a t shirt.

A lot of schools seem to give out mouse pads that we don't need.

i got invited for a St. Johns - Georgetown baseball game at Citi Field, the first game thats gonna be played there from St. Johns and Brooklyn college invited me to a screening of the Dark Knight

Colgate's the best! I got a sticker, a letter, a hand-written note, a letter from a current student AND an autographed book.

I haven't had any acceptance packages like THAT. But I did like UCSD's. The outside of the envelope said something along the lines of "Congrats! It's the BIG envelope."

Marquette invited me to the Marquette vs. Syracuse game, which I thought was really cool.

besides that it was fairly typical, though somebody had underlined the "congrats" on the acceptance letter and put two exclamation points above it, which was cool. marquette has actually done a lot of cool little stuff like that.

It's a very good marketing strategy for colleges to stand out. For example, when i got accepted into Rowan University they had a fancy folder with a very grand looking emblem and nice decal inside along with information packets. These small but meaningful items made me feel like a real college student. Overall it IS the school that brings down the decision but these little things do add a slight percentage% to what school you might be attending.

It seems like private colleges don't send anything... Even HYPS???

Colorado University sent a really nice acceptance certificate... pretty fancy looking...

My Bucknell folder had a hand-written note from my admission counselors... the note did say something generic like "congratulations, i hope you will come"... but it was still cool to get something handwritten in this day and age

sister got a pennant from Yale and a t-shirt

I didn't get any magnet from Penn State.

I can firmly say that the best thing I received in acceptance letters from Berkeley, UCLA, Michigan, Virginia and Boston College was the letter itself.

One of my friends got $4 from the financial aid office at USC. Like four single-dollar bills in an envelope (was there when he opened it). That was interesting.

I think it'd be really funny if Colgate sent a free toothbrush and toothpaste. :P

Quite frankly I'm not going to complain of all the goodies colleges send us.

Ball State gave me a car window decal, free tickets to sporting events, dramas, musical performances and more, a magnet with all the important dates, and a couple other small freebies including a pretty certificate stating they'd give me $38,000 over 4 years if I went there. It was the envelope that really made me smile though, it said "YES!" in 4 inch font on the outside. Basically, I knew it was my acceptance letter before I even opened it.

Kent State gave me an acceptance letter and a list of all the scholarships they planned on giving me (basically a full ride). Nothing real exciting though.

University of Cincinnati gave me a phone call. That's right. I didn't get anything in the mail. I got a phone call asking me if I wanted a spot in the program. I said yes (and was really happy) then got my letter a month later.

Ball State's letter did make me want them a little more, but not getting those things from the other two didn't make them any less appealing. I ended up accepting UC's. haha

It makes me want to apply to school just to get the free stuff ;)

....except for that whole application fee thing
