Hey there, I’ve been struggling to find the right college/university, and I finally found the right fit: Sarah Lawrence College.
Unfortunately, I live on the west coast, and I’m not ready to move that far in my first two years of college. So basically what I’m asking is: Does anybody know of any colleges that are similar to Sarah Lawrence in California, Nevada, Oregon or Washington?
It would also help if the colleges you guys recommend aren’t super selective or care so much about SAT scores.
Thanks in advance!
Evergreen State in Olympia, Washington might be right up your alley. I’d recommend you check it out – like SLC, it’s artsy, hippy-ish, and you have a lot of freedom in the curriculum.
Reed (Oregon) probably has a similar vibe to SLC, but it’s hyper-intellectual from what I hear.
Lewis and Clark (Oregon) or University of Puget Sound (Washington) might be a little more mainstream but could still have what you’re looking for. Don’t know much about these two, though.
In California, UC Santa Cruz might be a (much larger) version of what you’re looking for. If you’re in-state, UCs and CSUs are a great deal.
On the East Coast, there’s Bard, Bennington, Hampshire, Skidmore. In the South, there’s the New College of Florida.
Do you need financial aid?
Thanks for the recommendations; I’ll be sure to check them out.
Some financial aid would be great, but I’ve been signing up for scholarships, and I know that the UC schools do offer financial aid.
Thanks again!
