On my ACT, I have a 32 composite (Superscore - English: 36, Math: 30, Reading: 33, Science: 32) and my SAT is at a 2040 (CR: 750, M: 640, W: 650). I am planning on taking these tests again in October and anticipate that both of the scores will increase. However, my UW GPA is only a 3.14 (my weighted is 3.96), due to getting a lot of Bs in AP classes. What colleges will not automatically rule me out because of this abysmal GPA, or will take into account my high test scores over my low GPA?

From what I have read, in most cases, high test scores will not make up for 4 years of mediocrity.

OP didn’t ask if he/she could get into HYPSM with those scores and GPA. OP asked a wide open question. I suggest you use the College Search function on this site http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_search/ to input your GPA, scores and other factors like location, size, cost, etc. There are many many colleges out there and I’m sure there are many options for you. Good luck.

They don’t necessarily favor scores over grades but take a look at the Colleges that Change Lives, and COPLAC (small public LACs). Both groups offer the B student excellent education opportunities. Good luck

Some colleges do weight scores more than GPA. For instance U Nebraska ranks scores and class rank as very important, GPA as considered. Google the Common Data Set for your schools of interest, look at section C7. Then run the Net Price Calculators for them to see if you can afford them.

@Corinthian No one mentioned those schools.

OP, Goucher College has a new application that does not take into account transcripts or test scores. You submit a brief video, a signature of academic integrity, and two class assignments.
