I'm currently a senior in high school and I am looking to go to college on a full scholarship. that being the school would cover my room and board, tuition, and possibly give me some money for my personal use.
I got a 35 on the ACT, have a gpa of 3.97, have taken numberous AP classes and gotten 4s/5s on them. I'm basically a pretty good student looking to attain my undergraduate degree without being in debt.

Given my numbers^ could you guys please suggest some schools that would be suitable for me? I have heard from friends that the University of Alabama does this quite frequently. However, do you know of any other such opportunities? Thank you so much

There are some old threads … written by I belive “momfromtexas” find those threads … she talks about ways to do this. Univ Alabama thread would have a lot on this as well.
YOu can also find a lot on college and university websites. Search for “merit scholarship” on their sites. There are also threads sticked at the top of the financial aid discussion board. You better hurry- as a senior, a lot of these deadlines are coming now.

As a National Merit Finalist, there are a number of full rides available. I’m not sure what schools, if any, offer full rides based solely on stats. There definitely are some full tuition schools though out there and some schools with stackable scholarships, so you may be able to get a full ride or close.

Check out the national merit thread and look at these schools to see if stats alone may qualify you for a full ride.

isn’t it plausible that almost any school could give you a full a ride? i do know a few people that have gotten full rides to university of pittsburgh…which is public. i would assume that schools which were known for larger amounts of merit aid and were not ivies would give a decent chunk of money

I’ll add Truman State University. It’s a great academic school with about 5,500 students. But you didn’t mention whether you are a National Merit Scholar or not. It would help to know if you are.

University of Miami (Coral Gables) offers the full ride Stamps scholarship. It covers not only tuition, room, board, books, fees, study abroad, but also travel as well as a 12,000 stipend. This is an unbelievable scholarship at a strong private school. Many other benefits go along with this (Foote Fellow, where you get to bypass all requirements, honors college, etc). There is no separate application, but I do believe applying early action helps.

Truman State does give full rides. You do not need to be NMF to win one. The Pershing is tuition, room and board and $4000 for study abroad. The Leadership scholarship is covering tuition, room and board and fees, no books though. I got the Leadership scholarship with similar stats to you all I had to do was write one extra essay.

UA Huntsville would give you a free ride, but not give you spending money.

Not only do few schools do what you’re asking, but you’re asking very late in the game.

I can’t think of any schools that give free rides AND spending money.

University of Alabama does NOT give free rides for an ACT 35. However, if you are a NMF, you’d get a lot, but not a total “free ride”. And you’d need to apply THIS WEEK!

An ACT 35 is very good, but it’s not so rare that schools are running around paying kids to go to their school with that score.

Are you a NMF?

What happened with your apps? Do all your schools expect you to pay too much?

How much will your family pay each year? If you’re low income, then you’d also get a Pell Grant in addition to scholarship money.

oops…just saw that this is an older thread.
