Colleges that release decisions early? (NOT EA or ED)

Hi everyone~
I've received this e-mail from University of Iowa saying I can get an admission decision within 2 business days. I haven't seen this kind of thing before, so I'm VERY confused...
If this is true, I really like the idea. I've got like 10-12 colleges in mind including safety schools and it'd be too much if I try and apply to all of them during the regular decision round (I've done my research; 3 top schools, 4 good schools and 3 safety schools). So I decided to give it a try to University of Iowa as a safety school. Are there any other colleges that just do the same (releasing their decisions even earlier than EA/ED)? If I get accepted to University of Iowa right now, do I have to attend the school? Is University of Iowa worth applying to? I saw that it was ranked seventy something among the national universities, but I just wanna hear from you guys.
Thank you :)

Colleges with Rolling applications do. No you do not have to attend just because you are admitted unless you apply under an ED agreement. Univ of Iowa is a good university.

Iowa State also offers a 48 hour decision; in fact; U Iowa copied the process from Iowa State after getting hammered by Iowa State for instate students. You also get a cool acceptance video from Iowa State.

Depending on your desired course of study, Iowa State might be a better option, and it will almost always be $5,000-$10,000 cheaper than U Iowa for OOS students.

Iowa State is stronger than U Iowa in engineering, many STEM fields, and Agriculture (mostly STEM).
U Iowa is stronger in humanities, business, many social sciences, health related fields, and performing arts.

About 40% of Iowa State grads are in STEM vs. 18% at U Iowa. About 8% of Iowa State grads are in the visual/performing/design arts vs 6% at U Iowa,

Both have outstanding visual arts programs although Iowa State’s is more comprehensive because they also offer architecture, interior design, etc in addition to studio arts.

@BrownParent‌ Thank you! I found the list of colleges with rolling admission policies. :)

@Haystack‌ Thank you for your answer! That’s very thorough. The major I’m considering is English Language/Literature, possibly Creative Writing if they have one. :)

The University of Iowa is famous for the Iowa Writers Workshop. They offer courses for undergrads. So it may be a very good safety/early admit for you to give you choices.

Iowa public universities have automatic admission criteria which presumably make it easy for them to decide on many applicants: <a href=“Regent Admission Index | Board of Regents State of Iowa”>http://www.regents.iowa.gov/RAI/

Tulane University lets their applicants know early only if you apply early. I believe the ones that get accepted usually have high stats.

Tulane will also give you a merit award at the same time if you qualify, upto 30K last year. UPitt and PSU do rolling.
