I went to Cornell, and absolutely loved it. But now I'm trying to add more colleges to my list, and having trouble knowing where to look.

Obviously, I want a school that is at least respectable academic-wise, but I really want to know of schools with a campus vibe like Cornell. Lots of diversity, a mixture of tradition and modernity, serious yet fun at the same time...?

Any help would be appreciated!

The school most similar to Cornell is probably Stanford in that both combine top notch liberal arts programs and world class technical & pre-professional programs on the same campus. When he founded Stanford University, Leland Stanford specified that his new school be modeled on Cornell (hence the school colors). He even hired away several members of the Cornell administration to run Stanford.

Within the Ivy League, UPenn is probably the most similar to Cornell in terms of size and diversity of course offerings. However, the student bodies at both universities strike me as quite dissimilar.

Thanks, B-Schooler! I have my “top” college list already (which includes Cornell), so now I’m leaning to adding more safety schools. So any schools you suggest don’t need to be of the highest caliber.

I was an engineering major, so these may not apply to you if that is not your interest, but my safeties were Carnegie Mellon (more of a match then a safety), and Georgia Tech. My financial safety was SUNY Binghampton.

University of Rochester.
