I'm having a bit of trouble finding colleges with actuary and business programs.

I'm not sure if I want to become an actuary or something in business, so I have to pick one with both degrees so I can change if I'm not sure.

Also, does the name of the college even matter if you major in one of these things? I've heard that actuaries almost are guaranteed jobs, and that school of a business major only matters in regards to the contacts you will have from your school.

[Be an Actuary](http://www.beanactuary.com) has some information on preparing for actuarial degrees. Majoring in math or statistics with specific course work (including the Validation by Educational Experience courses) should be fine, since relatively few schools have an actuarial major (which is likely just a version of math or statistics with pre-selected actuarial-relevant courses in some of the elective space).

Very few actuaries have degrees in actuarial science. Most majored in some sort of math, though economics majors and minors are becoming more common. There are no guaranteed jobs, but strong math aptitude and grades, and passing of at least 1-2 actuarial exams, will get you plenty of opportunities. Any math-intensive major, combined with some business courses, will set you up for many other business jobs if you decide the actuary career isn’t for you.
