Colleges within my reach?

I've taken the SAT once (plan to take it again in May), and I didn't do as well as I'd hoped (1840). I've also taken the ACT and scored quite a bit better (with a composite of 29). I'll probably take the ACT again in the fall (as it appears to be easier for me). I'm a straight-A student at a very competitive high school, and upon graduation I'll have taken a total of 6 AP classes (in my junior and senior years). Everyone says that colleges place the most importance on your high school course load and transcript, but I'm worried that my standardized test scores will hinder my ability to get into some really great schools.

Please help!

Why aren’t you taking the tests again in June? Most colleges superscore the SAT and some are beginning to superscore the ACT. Get the books the Real SAT and the Real ACT and work through some tests. Concentrate on the ones you get wrong. You’ll raise your scores. Colleges care about ALL of your stats. Don’t believe that they care the most about your high school course load…they care about everything! Your 29 won’t keep you out of any schools but you could improve your chances by doing better. These days with so many qualified students, high scores won’t get you in, but low scores will keep you out.
