Hey, does anyone know if CC has a good creative writing program? I want to major in English with a c.w. concentration.

Also, if anyone has insight into the block scheduling, that'd be great. I'm curious as to how students/parents feel about the program, experiences, etc.

I recently enrolled at CC! I’ll be heading there this fall. I went primarily because their creative writing program had a good reputation. I want to be a writer, and after speaking to Steven Hayward, one of the writing professors, I was confident I would grow as a writer at CC.
I still have yet to learn whether the block plan works for me, but people I spoke to while visiting who were majoring in English raved about the opportunities present when you can simply write for three and a half weeks, uninterrupted by other subjects. I’m really excited about writing at CC next year!

Hopefully someone else will also chime in.

Thanks so much leeloo231! I’ll definitely look more into the program - I’m very glad to hear it has a good writing program as I was very interested in the scheduling style.
What do you think of the town? Size, politically, entertainment-wise? Any thoughts?
Again, thanks :)

And actually social life in general at CC? I understand it is a small school, but I was wondering just how small it really feels.

In my opinion, CC has one of the best locations of any LAC in America. Maybe THE best.

Most other LACs are located in rural areas, often with crappy climates.
Colorado Springs is sunny and dry, with a spectacular mountain backdrop. Clubs, restaurants and shops are within walking or biking distance. For some reason Colorado Springs is home to many conservative political organizations (like Focus on the Family); some people consider this a negative, but I don’t think it has much if any impact on campus life. The area also draws many high-tech companies.
