Colorado State University vs. University of Arizona

Can anyone provide a list of pros and cons for both schools? I am stuck between the two. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I spent quite a bit of time giving my thoughts on 2 colleges yesterday for a student with a similarly generic post asking for the pros and cons of each only to have the OP come back and disclose they lived 2 blocks away from one, but never visited the other which is only a little over an hour drive away. :-? It’s difficult to provide meaningful feedback without more info on your interests and objectives.

Can you provide a little more info on why you chose to apply to these 2 colleges and what interested you in each? What are your career interests? Intended major? Are you in state for either? Cost difference? Any thoughts of going to grad school after? They each have very different “vibes” and are in very different environments. Have you visited either? What are the pros and cons as YOU see them?

I am going to be an out-of-state student for both. I’m looking to go pre-med, then all the way up to a doctor. I got into both and Colorado would be significantly cheaper. Although, I have heard Arizona has a better science program. Since I live on the complete opposite side of the country, I’m kind of going in blind. I’m going to tour next month, but I’m looking for some outside thoughts/perspectives. Any personal experiences would be great as well.

Pre med as going into medicine?

This Is your post?

How much is the COA of both, and do you have a financial safety? A local acceptance that is cheaper? Either way, as you are not sure of your major, you should make sure the school you attend is affordable and offers a major that will work for you once premed courses become the challenge they often can be. Your current stats are going to need a big change for you to be on track for medicine or PA. Are you realistic about the likelihood of these plans? How can you pay for grad school/med school?

Yes, I’m not as dumb as my GPA makes me look. I had a lot of medical issues in my freshman and sophomore years. Unfortunately, I live in West Virginia and the administration at my school wasn’t at all accommodating. I missed the majority of those years, and my school couldn’t be bothered. I’m more than excelling in my AP classes, so yes, I think I’ll do just fine in a pre-med program. I’m merely looking for personal experiences/thoughts on either school. My college is already paid for, thanks to my grandparents.

Med school is also paid for?

If med school is in your plans, go to the cheaper option. Colorado State has very good sciences and engineering, certainly as far as a solid pre-med preparation is concerned.

Agree that if Med school or PA school or any grad or professional school is part of your plan, go to the least expensive U, so you can save for the grad/pro school.

Colorado is 42K a year for OOS. Did you not consider any of your instate options? Or any reciprocal tuition states if there are any? Go back to the question of why these 2 schools? Considering there is no merit or carrot for either. Is your funding only for education, or can it be used in any way you want? Are your grandparents still alive?

College is about expanding your horizons. In my opinion, staying in West Virginia isn’t really expanding anything. None of this is really relevant to my question of which school is better. My college is paid for in full wherever I go, as previously stated. Again, I am looking for personal experiences. I don’t need financial advice, or for you to tell me that both schools don’t have any “merit”.
