Should I be worried if I don’t get an interview call or email?
@Jojofam
no you should not be worried. it does not have anything to do with your application. i got an interview for penn three days after i submitted my application (on january 5). my best friend just got an email about it. again, it is based on the availability of alumni in your area and probably, as said above, on similar interests with the alum.
Do they do interviews in St. Louis?
@maddieportnoy18 Thank you.
Will Columbia send likely letter to most admitted students in late February and early March?
LLs went out to a very small group of select students in early March in previous years.
@kcasssuu
from columbia website:
“Late March
Admissions and financial aid decisions released online to Regular Decision candidates, and invitations mailed for on-campus and regional programs for admitted students.”
@Volunteerism @kcasssuu what is a likely letter?
@chrys1
Likely letter is when the school gives you early notice of their intent to admit you. They will follow up later with official admission letter at the regular scheduled date but the likely is just as good as the official notification.
@Volunteerism so if you don’t get a likely letter does that mean you’re definitely going to be denied or is there still a chance?
Likely letters are given only to a small fraction of admitted students. Not receiving a letter a letter has no effect on if your going to be accepted
Why are likely letters sent?
@chrys1 They send the letters to a handful of students that they find particularly attractive that they feel will have a lot of competing admission offers. By notifying the student of early acceptance they hope to make the student feel special and provide more time for the student to consider matriculating. It is really a form of marketing.
I was fooling around on my laptop and received an email from Columbia, so naturally I freaked out but I only screamed because it was a email thanking me for my application, telling me about the finaid application tracker, and reminding me to send in all my financial aid stuff before the 15th, not a likely letter :)) The wait for any communication from CU is killing me! :(|)
@greeneandh
LOL, Likely Letters are typically sent out via email first week of March.
On my financial aid tracker, the items needed(that I have already sent and they have received) has a status that says: “required for packaging” ?? >-) Does anyone else have this? :-SS
My interview contacted me relatively late compared to my other colleges. I had my interview four days ago. According to her, interviews are supposed to be done by mid-Feb and they would submit their reports by the end of the month.
@28cats I have my interview the 19th, pretty late! :-?
@greenandh yes, it says :“required for packaging”- Wouldn’t that be great?!
@jprtaco I hope that’s a good sign!!!
