Columbia and Penn shud have a Rivalry-

heylo fellow penn’ers. What say you on an official 2011 Penn Columbia rivalry? =).

...random?
everyone knows PTON is the one that sucks at life.

Heh, truazn remember some thread semi-back in the day --(pre-acceptances anyway)-- where you posted why you thought that Columbia was better than Penn etc. and were subsequently pwned? That was hot. Columbia can't handle the rage of the fighting quakers. Back out now before it's too late.

Oh pshaw. We all know Penn sux w/o Wharton and Columbia College is clearly >> Penn Cas =).

And haha... fighting quakers =P. A bit ironic dontcha think? We are the lions. Roar. =). (this isnt meant to be a flame thread, jsut some good fun haha)

@Paro. We all know Penn likes to pretend Pton has a rivalry with you guys... but the truth is Pton doesn't give a fart in space about Penn~. They're too worried about trying to get in on the rivalry between Harvard and Yale. H-Y on the other hand are not calling Pton bak.

Harvard and Yale don't think Princeton matters at all.

Columbia's colors are sky blue. Enough said.

no no jyanks, its: ... 'nuff said.

whatev dude. penn is the sexiest of them all!! what discussion???

Oooh are we starting already guys? ;)

Why not? There was some very lively flaming on the Penn v. Columbia Myspace freshman groups last year- we shud continue the tradition =P.

Hey, I kinda like Columbia.. I'm looking at Columbia for b-school. :]

chaotic... man. Sure, you can "kind of like it" but just remember Penn > Columbia. And truazn it seems like Columbia is soliciting the rivalry with Penn. You want the coolness factor by association. It's understandabe.

Penn > Columbia? Um not. Columbia College's acceptance rate last year was... ready... 9.6%. Yup. 2nd lowest after Yale. Uh what was penn's again- Columbians arnt familiar with numbers that high. Oh yea... 17%... geez =P. And face it, without the couple of hundred whartonites (whom i do respect), Penn would not be ranked higher than Columbia. Oh and what is this... COlumbia has more nobel laureates assocaited with it than any other US institution? And 2 Nobels alone this year? DAYUm... =). Let the battles begin. haha~

TruAZN is correct all you guys suck ....columbia alums make the most money all you other people are really pretentious "jennyane89" who are u anyway

Columbia students (or at least one in particular, since my friend is going to Columbia) "shud" learn to spell. On second thought, they should learn to capitalize as well.

columbia people are the most boring people i have ever met .. enough said.

US News and World Report ranks Penn above Columbia. That's why I say Penn > Columbia. They weigh in a ton of factors, and sure you're going to come back and try to discredit the study but just remember that those are the rankings everyone looks to. Harvard was all in a tizzy after now being second to Princeton on it etc. Those rankings matter, and Columbia falls short. And psh Truazn you keep trying to say "well, if you take away some of the really awesome aspects of Penn and then compare it to Columbia, Columbia is better!!!" Sigh. Penn is a university that includes all four of it's undergraduate schools. Undergraduates have access to those schools. You gotta look at Penn in its entirety. It is simply fab.

Letslead ... I'm hardpressed to believe you even GO to Columbia. Just taking a guess. And when you ask "who ARE you, GAWD!?" lol... well.. "letsleadnotfollow" -- if that is your real name!! -- i'd ask.. who the **** are YOU?

I think you guys are a bit late. I believe the Princeton paper wrote something on having a rivalry with Penn, and that might carry a bit more weight than some incoming freshman on CC.

Yea... with regards to USNWR. Um it ranks Caltech in front of MIT and Stanford- i think anyone with a brain knows this is bull... And hey jenny, how come Penn's acceptance rate is literally DOUBLE that of Columbia? =P

Actually Caltech, MIT, and Stanford all tie for fourth. But anyway why rag on caltech?? I mean if acceptance rate is really where it's at as you say, Caltech is up there with the champs. And why is Penn's acceptance rate double? Pff Not even? But I mean, I'd explain that with the fact that a ton of people think they can get into Columbia because everyone is aware of how it is among the lower 4 of the 8 ivies, and basically lame, so Columbia then has to reject those underqualified people who -- even though it's columbia -- still woudn't have a chance in heck. Voila! Small acceptance rate.

Tech, MIT, and Stanford are all ranked 4. I think they did it alphabetically. Tech is a kickass school, and I doubt that there are many valid arguments that show that it is miles behind MIT and Stanford.

Penn is just as strong as Columbia academically. Columbia attracts a bunch of kids who want to be in NYC and go to an Ivy, so more applicants + smaller class = lower admit rate (also, who ever said that more applicants means more qualified applicants). Columbia is the hapless Ivy. They suck at sports. Penn and Princeton compete for the Ivy title in basketball. That makes us rivals.

Columbia and Penn are pretty equal academically. They have different strengths, offer different curriculums, and have different student bodies, but at the end of the day, they are pretty equal.
