Upenn rival?

Hi. I’m new to this board. I was accepted ed to penn and i was curiious what is penn’s big rival? i was thinking maybe columbia cuz they are both city ivies but i wasnt really sure.

PRINCETON

wow where areyou from?
(im guessing westcoast?)

Drexel....

yeah, i am from california. haha. is princeton our rival for just certain sports or everything in college life?

princeton is nemesis/rival for everything! it's like harvard & yale. from an entirely ignorant perspective, i think it's probably because of location. and heeyyyy. our 2005 homecoming is versus princeton.

haha drexel is so much beneath penn that it's not a rival school, we just laugh at it. and its so NOT FAIR that those kids get to use our libraries!

To all the ED acceptees...isn't it great now that we can officially refer to Penn in "we/our" terms...I love it.

the rivalry is cause penn and pton are the two most awesomest Ivy schools, and they know it.

Princeton is the main rival I would say. However, recently the Ivy League Championship has been decided in Penn vs. Harvard every year - that is a developing rivalry. However, I assume Harvard could never become a "main" rival, since Yale holds that position for them.

Definitely Princeton - in more ways than sports. It's interesting because Penn and Princeton are culturally like night and day. Penn kids envision Princeton students in plaid blazers and bow ties - while Princeton kids envision Penn students in togas and bare feet. To me, the rivalry makes little sense because most Penn kid would never want to go to Princeton...and vice-versa.

puck frinceton.

hahaha chocooooooo!!!
lol, have not seen you around boards lately. maybe because i don't spend too much time on these boards anymore.. mm, happy new year?

haha momsdream u are probably right.. although i do know this girl @ penn who kept wishing she were @ princeton (she was accepted there, just chose to go to penn)

she probably had ugly feet and didn't look good in the toga ;)

"Penn kids envision Princeton students in plaid blazers and bow ties - while Princeton kids envision Penn students in togas and bare feet."

I can see the blazer and argyle sweaters thing... but where do the togas and bare feet come from?

two words- greek life

oic.

penn and princeton a pretty different anyway aren't they? they certainly attract different people because of that since penn's got the liberal arts college thing and wharton going on while princeton's all bio sciencey.

well I heard you can get sloshed in the pton dorms and they dont' care at all as long as you are in one of the "non-substance-free dorms" anyone know how strict penn's alcohol policy is? I'm assuming pretty lenient but my friend who's there now says that there's like never fart parties on campus cause all the houses are like on the green and you have to register the parties and penn sends out bouncers or something, so they are all on off campus houses hte farts own... but like I don't really feel like getting rolled in west Philly for like 20 bukcs staggering home drunk... so anyone know? enlighten me

are you kidding me! well i dont go to penn yet but ive heard that penn is awesomely ok with drinking. my friend was telling me how if you feel like you might have alcohol poisoning or just feel like you have had wayyy too much to drink and you might keel over and croak, you can go to the penn hospital on campus and no one will get in trouble with the school at all; not the frat. this is awesome cuz its an incentive for us all to get as wasted as possible and not have to worry about any negative consequences. haha

I'd say Princeton and the other Big 5 schools (St. Joe's, Villanova, Temple, La Salle) could all be considered UPenn's rivals.

egh... i think princeton is still penn's (u can refer to it without the U) main rival since the other universities aren't really ivy league of as hard to get into as these two. there's a totally different level of competition.
