The Columbia admissions officer for my region called my guidance counselor and specifically asked him to send my mid-year report. They didn’t ask for any other student’s except for mine. Guidance department sends everyones mid year report next week.
Hmmm, I am no admissions officer. However, I can make the assumption that, since Columbia has thousands of applicants and they went out of their way to specifically ask about you, Columbia is obviously interested in you.
Not worth trying to guess. It could just be that the admission officer is reviewing your application now and would like the file complete (including the mid-year report) and that he/she won’t get to the others until after next week.
It obviously means they want more information on you. This could be good or bad. Are your grades low? Are they on an upward trend? These are probably the things the AO wants to understand
It’s definitely a positive indicator. They are in the process of reading applications and obviously they want more information before making a decision. It’s all nice when they contact guidance counselors as it gives yours a chance to advocate on your behalf.
