ok i looked at the pdf of the columbia application, and there is a section where your counselor has to fill out your SAT scores/AP scores/SATIIscores. why the heck is this?? you already report your scores in the info that you fill out and have the scores sent from college board.

and my school is really crappy in terms of sending kids to top universities so the counselors are kinda lost...HOW are they supposed to know all of my test scores?? it's not like my school keeps a record of them. i think this is really dumb.

and on the application, for the five slots (counselor form) that they give u for ap/satII scores, can you just fill all five with ap scores after you previously listed your satII scores in the info you were supposed to fill out?

this is the cornell forum

whoa hahah oops i was almost positive i clicked on columbia

moderator, move this thread please!!*

They may receive your official scores after they receive your counselor’s paper form. Your relationship with your counselor should be good enough that they know your scores, even if you have to tell them yourself because your score doesn’t keep records. How else are they going to write an adequate recommendation?

well like i said before…we get new counselors every year and the counselors this year don’t know what they’re doing
and my school is not all that great…counselors are more focused on the kids who fail and don’t pass state proficiencies
there is no close relationship between a counselor and a student
many people don’t even know who their counselor is.

^Whats wrong with that? At my school, the ones at the top (like me) get a lot of attention while the ones who are average/below average get left out to dry sometimes.

no…you don’t know how bad my school is =[ my school does not meet state standards…
is the cornell application similar??

Most applications are similar and require counselor’s input which most likely involve putting down scores. In fact, Cornell may be extremely similar to many other institutions you’re applying to because it uses CommonApp. Stanford, Yale, many others use CommonApp. Good thing about that is your counselor can fill it out once and have the same form be sent off to multiple schools.

while this may be true…i had to ride my counselor’s heels to get her to fill out my forms…

counselors at my under performing school spend their days talking to parents about what their failing kid needs for graduation…
